Starting with the beautiful wooden architecture from the outside, the authentic Japanese experience continues as you are greeted inside by the friendly, English-speaking staff into tatami floor rooms kitted out with traditional low chabudai tables. Set alongside the Matsukawa River which flows into the nearby Sagami-nada Sea, all of the guestrooms boast picturesque views over the trickling, tree-lined stream outside making it a peaceful setting for your stay in Izu.

One of the highlights of K’s House is undoubtedly its public and private onsen bathroom. As Izu is an area celebrated for its natural onsen, there’s no better way to experience this age-old traditional style of bathing than from the comfort of your own hostel. For a real authentic experience, head to the communal indoor baths to share the hot, steamy waters with other guests or make the most of the private baths that can be rented out for free - Just be sure to book these in advance.

Outstanding value for money, K’s House offers a variety of rooms with the most affordable being a bed in a shared dormitory which starts at 2,950 yen per person for one night. For one of the more spacious and comfortable private Japanese-style rooms prices range from 3,400 yen to 5,900 yen per person depending on the number of people staying in the room. While prices are a little higher during peak season, it’s a pleasant surprise to find a price tag this low on a hostel with characteristics so similar to other high quality traditional guest houses around the country.
