The insanely popular manga Demon Slayer, "Kimetsu no Yaiba" has gained rapid attention amongst many people regardless of age or gender not only in Japan but around the world. It has captivated fans for several years since its inception and has finally come to its conclusion with the last manga just out in December. Of the many, one of the key factors in the manga series is the presence of a wisteria tree that is said to be poisonous to demons. Wisteria typically bloom in spring with slight variations depending on the types but this seasonal beauty lies in the ephemeral nature and requires travelling at the right timing. However, fans surely can’t wait till next spring and would want to see wisteria in full bloom now. A flower theme park, Ashikaga Flower Park in Ashikaga, Tochigi prefecture is the perfect place to go now to immerse yourself in the world of Demon Slayer.

Pilgrimage to Demon Slayer Location
Many fans would know that Mt Fujikasane is covered by Wisteria flowers and appeared in the Demon Slayer during the exam Tanjiro Kamado took to become the official Demon Slayer Corps. However, there is no such mountain in real life Japan but some fans believe that Wisteria Tree in Ashikaga Flower Park may be one of the locations that the author got her inspiration from. The flower park took the concept to a whole new level where it has installed more than 5 million LED lights inside the garden so that people can enjoy the park by night. The “Garden of Illuminated Flowers” is one of the top 3 largest illumination events in Japan and the crown jewel of the park is the more than 150 year old Great Wisteria, which fills the tree with hundreds of beautiful lilac colored flowers during its peak season in May. During the winter when the trees are bare, the garden set up millions of LED lights to recreate the wisteria in full bloom.

Nothing is incomparable to the real wisteria in full bloom, however, the LED version gives a different beauty to the garden with a photogenic view during the night. Without any special lighting tools or camera like a professional, even with iphones, the reflection of the wisteria can be shot. Aside from being famed by the fans of Demon Slayer, in one sense, perhaps the popularity of this flower park can be said from its relatively simple and easiness to shoot an amazing night view and see the beauty of nature, although artificially arranged.

The “Garden of Illuminated Flowers'' not only has wisteria but as its name implies, has different flowers across a large park. Including partially elaborate Christmas lightings, the annual winter event at Ashikaga Flower Park offers plenty to see and take memorable photos.

From rose and azalea garden to a fountain of water lilies, the bare flowers replaced with artificial flowers lit up gives a beaming of colors to the dark night. Over by the garden of flowers spread across the park, the artificial roses are lit up in several colors from white, orange, yellow, red and pink. These colors change from time to time. Same goes for artificial azaleas over by the Flower Castle closer to the West Entrance and water lilies by the fountain closer to the Main Entrance. Whether being a fan of Demon Slayer or a night pic addict or just want to witness a magical moment, Ashikaga Flower Park is the best hot spot to go during winter.
