On Monday, November 30, 2020, IKEA opened its second urban store, "IKEA Shibuya", following "IKEA Harajuku". With the announcement of the opening of IKEA Shinjuku in spring 2021, IKEA is furthering away from its iconic warehouse-like spaces to attract more urban millennials in this new urban
style store.

IKEA Shibuya
At the former Forever21 site, IKEA Shibuya opened on November 30th 2020. A both a world's first veggie dog bistro and a seven storied urban store, the new IKEA consists of 19 different shopping areas as well as a restaurant on the seventh floor. In addition shopping areas, there are toy and playground equipment sections, so even families can enjoy it too. The restaurant floor is expected to open in spring 2021.

World's First Vegie Dog Bistro
Low in calories, fat, cholesterol, and also rich in nutrients such as fiber, protein and vitamins, IKEA Shibuya's Veggie Docs are reasonably priced at only 80 yen per item (set price from 220 yen), making it easy to enjoy when you're hungry.
Of the 10 products in total, eight are exclusive to Shibuya, and six are plant-based (plant-derived), including the buns. The "Veggie Doc" tastes similar to the regular hot dogs and it is hard to believe it doesn't contain any meat. This is a must-have item for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Because it is healthy and satisfies the appetite for anyone, it's sure to become a popular new street food in Shibuya.The menu will be available as a takeaway for the time being

First Swedish Food Market in a urban store
Aside from the world’s first veggie doc bistro, IKEA for the first time in an urban store opened the first swedish food market. The market offers a wide range of delicious and sustainable items from Sweden.
The popular "Plant Ball", made with plant-based ingredients instead of meat, is a reimagining of IKEA’s famous meatballs. It is sold for 699yen per 500g. The taste, texture and appearance are the same as its regular meatball, but there are no animal-derived ingredients, making them ideal for vegans and vegetarians. -

First toy and playground equipment section in an urban store
The third floor features a toy and playground equipment dedicated section, first of a kind in an urban store. There are a variety of unique and adorable toys that will spark children's creativity and imagination.

IKEA Shibuya exclusive item
Made from the iconic blue FRAKTA bag, KNORVA hat blue can only be purchased at IKEA Shibuya. It is water-resistant, so can be worn on rainy days too or easily folded to store in a bag when not wearing it.

Aside from the hat, other exclusive items include tote bags and bath towels from the popular clothing line EFTERTRÄDA. Children's T-shirts and hoodies, and two types of key rings will be sold at the Harajuku and Shibuya stores ahead of the nationwide stores.
