    Simple Step-by-Step Guide

    Forest Adventure

    Forest Adventure

Before going, it is highly recommended that you make a reservation online. There's no cancellation fee, and reservations can be made online at any time. There may not be any available slots left, or perhaps the park is closed due to particularly bad weather (strong winds, snow & lightning). This eventuality can be avoided if you make a reservation.

When making your reservation, there will be three different courses to choose from; the Adventure Course, Discovery Course, Canopy Course and the Kids Course. Each course has different conditions (min. height, max. weight, adult supervision), difficulty levels and belay systems which you can view at Forest Adventure Conditions. Details about these courses will be described further down below.

The reservation time will be the start time of the safety briefing (safety class), so arrive at the park at least 20 minutes in advance. If you are late, you may be asked to wait for the following safety class.

Once you arrive, you'll have to read the safety rules and sign a legal disclaimer. The disclaimer is for accident insurance, which is a typical thing at these sorts of parks. Follow the rules, and the danger will be brought to a minimum. After reading the rules and signing the disclaimer, you will make your way to reception to make your payment.

The instructors will now fit you with a harness, so if you're thinking of going to the toilet or having a ciggy, do it beforehand because it won't be permitted once you're suited up.

Now begins the safety briefing. The instructor will now demonstrate how to use the carabiners (specialized shackle) and will go through the safety rules. They'll then ask you to go through a short simple course for practice. The safety briefing should only take around 15 minutes, but this depends entirely on you. So listen intently and you'll be zipping away in no time.

    Adventure Course

Adventure Course - Forest Adventure Yokohama

The Adventure Course is considered to be Forest Adventure's standard course. However, it is certainly the most challenging course in the park. You'll be roughly 10m up in the trees, so anyone with a fear of heights may want to stick with the other challenges.

This course includes activities such as crossing tightropes, traversing different types of wooden platforms, ziplining and more.

    Minomushi-shoot - Excite Plan

    Minomushi-shoot - Excite Plan

If you're a bit of an adrenaline junkie, you might opt for the "Excite Plan". This includes the "Tarzan Swing" and the "Minomushi-shoot". Swing from a rope from around 9 meters up, or drop straight-down from around 12 meters up. You will need to receive another short safety briefing before climbing up these contraptions though.

This "Excite Plan" is available at the newly opened Forest Adventure Yokohama if you're interested (this park will be explained more in detail later). The time required to complete this course will take around 2 - 3 hours.

    Discovery Course

    Have fun with your friends!

The Discovery Course doesn't differ too much from the Adventure Course. The types of activities will be similar, but the difficulty for the Discovery Course is slightly lower.

Families looking for a course to do together will find this most suitable. A great place to start if the Adventure Course looks a little too intimidating.

The time required to complete this course will take around 2 - 3 hours.

The Canopy Course can be enjoyed by anyone over 110cm tall. This is directed more at children however. Parents have the choice to join their kids and participate, or they can watch from the ground while their kids move throughout the course.

The time required to complete this course will usually take around 1 hour.

    Kids Course

The Kids Course has the kids wearing a safety device that will not come off until they get off the course and slide to the ground. It also has installed zip lines that are only 1 - 2m off the ground, which should reassure any worried parent.

Kids up to the age of 9 can participate in this course. Parents will still need to watch their child from the ground (they'll be practically within arm's reach).

For 45 minutes, the kids have unlimited access to the whole course.

    Conditions & Safety Regulations

    Suiting up area

    Suiting up area

Minimum height, adult supervision requirements and the type of belay system used will depend on which course you choose. One universal condition is that the maximum weight of a participant is 130kg.

Before making your trip to Forest Adventure, be sure to follow these instructions:
・Tie your hair back if it's long.
・Wear clothes that don't constrict movement.
    ・Wear trousers (no skirts)
・Wear footwear that doesn't come off easily (no high-heels, sandals, etc.)
・Wear clothes that can get dirty.

At Forest Adventure, participants will be wearing a harness which they connect to a safety line. This safety line has two types of belay systems.

    Safety equipment for "Excite Plan"

To those who aren't regular climbers, belaying refers to techniques climbers use to exert tension on the rope. Simply put, it allows a person to perform the traverse/climb with less physical effort, and it also prevents a climber's fall.

They have the Self-belay, where you will have to change safety lines when going from one section to the next, and then there is the Continuous-belay, where there is a single safety line throughout the course.

Click Forest Adventure Conditions to find out more about the course conditions, and click Forest Adventure Safety if you want to know more about their safety regulations.
