Nagurumi Castle Ruins

"A seven minute drive by car from Jomo-Kogen Station on the JR Joetsu Shinkansen line. The lord Sanada Masayuki built the castle that once stood here in 1579 at the conjunction between the Tone and Akaya Rivers. The ruins were designated a Historic Site by Gunma Prefecture in 1949. After the broadcast of the popular television drama ""Sanada Maru"" on NHK, a portion of the ruins were restored in 2015 and in 2017 the castle was selected in a second edition to a list of Japan’s top 100 castles. The trees and stone monuments in the area convey the weight of its history."

小田原征伐のきっかけとなった小城。沼田城から目と鼻の先に敵の小城がポツンとあれば攻めたくもなります。そうなるように真田昌幸が秀吉を唆して残した城なのでしょう。城の縄張りが復元されていて戦国時代の戦うための城がどういうものかがわかります。桜もきれいで、超穴場花見スポットです。

続100名城スタンプ巡りで行きました。小田原征伐の発端になった重要な城ですが、国道17号沿いにあり規模は予想したより小さいです。

10年も前は駐車場も狭く車停めるにも一苦労。城内に入っても案内も整備されていないので、そこに何があったのかを想像しながら歩いたものでした。また冬場に雪が降ると、郭から郭に移るのに堀を超えることが出来なかったものです。それはそれで楽しかったけど、近年（特に2016年の大河ドラマの前から重点的に）整備され専門家の手により遺構の説明も充実しており、とても分かりやすくなっています。前に訪れたことがあ...
