據說熊野磨崖佛（壁佛）是在平安時代末期被雕刻於岩壁，同時也是日本國內最古老的佛像。共有高約8公尺的不動明王像與高約6.7公尺的大日如來像兩尊佛像。兩者皆為日本國內最大型的磨崖佛，獲指定為日本國家重要文化財及史蹟。參拜時因必須攀爬陡峭石階，建議穿著容易行走的鞋子前往。拜觀時間至傍晚為止。
