    At over 360 years old, this magnificent sakura tree is a sight to behold. The Rock-Breaking Cherry Tree earned its name from its unusual positioning within a block of granite from which its solid trunk sprouts out of a huge crack through the middle. There's no doubting the beauty of the tree at any time of year but only those who visit in spring can appreciate the true splendour of the tree dressed up in lashings of cherry blossom.

    Morioka Hachimangu is a Shinto shrine with a history of 300 years. As well as the main shrine building, there are around 18 other buildings on the temple grounds that worshippers can be seen visiting throughtout the year.
