Garb Monaque is an artsy café in Umeda that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast menu is extremely reasonable as it costs 500 yen exact with tax. Choose from the “Garb Monaque Morning” menu which includes their recommended “Tangzhong Bread Set”, a set that includes a salad, yogurt, a drink, and bread made using the tangzhong method. Called “Yudane Bread” in Japanese, this method allows the bread to become fluffier when it’s baked and so giving it a good morning feel.

If you’re in the mood for something more local, you can check out Osakaya. It’s a lively place located between Osaka and Umeda station and is almost always crowded, with partiers winding up a night’s carousing next to salarymen having breakfast. They serve fish, beef, tofu, and udon all day and start serving alcohol around noon.
