Chikufudo
Chikufudo
Undeniably Japanese from the inside out, Chikufudo is a restaurant and shop that specialises in Japanese chestnuts. A popular chain established in the nearby town of Obuse in 1970, Chikufudo started out as a small shop selling products made from locally grown chestnuts and expanded around Nagano prefecture. The Nagano City branch is found in Matsushiro next to the castle ruins where the restaurant serves up delicious lunch sets complete with pickles, miso soup, and their unmissable specialty, chestnut rice. Delectable chestnut flavored sweets, ice creams, and cakes will give you a good idea of why the nation has come to love the flavorsome chestnuts of Nagano.
