Most of the accommodation in Uji is true to the town's heritage of being a historic, traditional town. Apart from a handful of smaller business hotels, your options here are basically restricted to ryokan and onsen hotels.

    Hanayashiki Ukifuneen

A very popular ryokan founded in 1895, located in a scenic spot next to the Uji River. Their 28 rooms are decorated in a tasteful modern Japanese style and there are also two spacious common baths on the premises, offering views of the Uji River flowing gently outside. The restaurant at Hanayashiki Ukifune-en offers kaiseki style (traditional Japanese multi-course dinner) menus and has recently been renovated.
