Yosakoi Festival (よさこい祭り), Kochi

One of Japan’s 10 largest festivals, the Yosakoi Festival is a vibrant celebration of dance in Kochi City. It’s been taking place for more than 60 years, with teams of yosakoi dancers and beautifully decorated floats parading through the main street in competition with one another.

More than 200 teams and around 20,000 people participate, with dance styles ranging from traditional to contemporary.
