Explore the beautiful bamboo garden of Houkokuji
One of Kamakura’s most charming temples is Houkokuji, which nestles in the hills to the east of the city center. It was founded during the early Muromachi Period (1336 - 1573) and is part of the Rinzai Sect of Zen Buddhism.
A highlight of the temple is its beautiful bamboo garden (which has earned it the nickname of “Bamboo Temple”) and features a network of narrow paths where you can soak up the tranquility.
