As one of the most popular theme parks in Japan, Universal Studios has tons of things to do for the whole family to enjoy. The park is divided into nine sections: Jurassic Park, Hollywood, New York, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, San Francisco, Minion Park, Waterworld, Amity Village, and Universal Wonderland.

Each section has shows for kids of all ages and also has thrilling rides with special effects. If you are visiting with a young child, be sure to pay careful attention to the height restrictions of each attraction. There are also tons of shops in the park where you can purchase tax-free goods.

Discover the underwater world at one of Japan’s most spectacular aquariums - Kaiyukan. Kaiyukan is home to 30,000 creatures from around 620 species. Each of its 15 large tanks represent a different region of the Pacific Rim, including “Antarctica”, “Japan Forest”, and the main attraction at the aquarium, “Pacific Ocean”.

The Pacific Ocean tank houses whale sharks and offers an up-close look at these magnificent sea creatures. The best way to tour the aquarium is to start on the 8th floor and head down, getting deeper into the ocean world as you descend floor by floor.

The aquarium’s new interactive exhibit allows you to experience different environments, touch sharks and stingrays, and more.

If you need something to do with your kids on a rainy day, we recommend you head over to Kids Plaza, an indoor complex where your children will be kept occupied for hours.

This kid-friendly museum is designed to help children of all ages learn while they play and have fun. Dotonbori Tsuribori

In the middle of the city is an unexpected spot called Dotonbori Tsuribori where you can fish in an indoor fishing pond (although you can’t take the fish home with you).

Kids will have a blast here catching different kinds of fish, including sturgeon, carp, and catfish. You can even try catching an eel with your bare hands! You can choose to fish for 30 minutes or one hour.

Tennoji Zoo is home to around 1,000 animals from 200 different species, so there is always a lot to see. Visitors especially love the effort that has been made to recreate the natural habitats of the animals, so you feel like you are really out in the wild.

Children will love watching the feeding times and being able to pet some of the animals. Tennoji Zoo is very easy to find as it is next to Shinsekai.

NIFREL

Expocity is a commercial facility next to the Expo '70 Commemorative Park and is a great place to go on a rainy day. There are many spots for kids to play in this complex but NIFREL is especially recommended.

NIFREL is an aquazoo where you can get an up-close look at the behaviors and characteristics of aquatic creatures. What is special about NIFREL is that it combines art with the ocean world to give you a unique experience.

There are several different zones, such as “NIFREL MAKES” where kids can enjoy hands-on activities and interact with ocean creatures. In the “ABILITIES” area, they can enjoy watching the marine animals change their appearances to blend into the environment.

VS PARK

VS offers not only virtuality reality games but also plenty of active games to get your kids moving. They have some unusual games, such as “bass ping pong” where you play on a cylindrical table instead of a flat one, accompanied by special lighting effects & music.

Hirakata Park is an amusement park in Osaka that has tons of rides and attractions for the whole family to enjoy! There are thrilling roller coasters, as well as smaller rides and activities for younger children.

In the summertime you can enjoy the pool area, called “The Boon”. There are four different pools here, including a lazy river pool, a hilltop observation pool, a gradually deepening pool, and a pool area that’s been designed especially for kids with play equipment and fountains.

There are also high-speed water slides, such as the “Hurricane Slider” that’s great for older children and adults, as well as the “Kiddy Slider” for younger visitors.

At the Cupnoodles Museum it's all about the noodles! This is a fun museum where your kids can enjoy making their own ramen noodles by hand. You can design your very own custom-made Cupnoodles package - something you can’t do anywhere else in the world!

After designing the package, they can pick their favorite soup and toppings. In the tasting room, you can try all kinds of instant noodles. The only downside to this museum is that it’s a bit far away from Central Osaka.
