A short walk from Kanazawa’s kitchen, the Omicho Market, will take you to Nakajima Menya where a theater drama business has operated since 1862. They have developed a powerful presence by selling theater objects such as masks and they now sell Kaga-Ningyo, the doll of Kanazawa, as well as other local toys. You can also participate in a drawing activity featuring Kaga Hachiman Okiagari, the traditional self-righting doll that’s made in Kanazawa. Simply select the type and size of the doll, then use their paints and brushes to beautify it. It’s a popular activity, so you need to have a reservation in advance!

Kokoyui is a 5-minute walk from Kanazawa Station and is one of many places where you can rent a kimono. Their kimonos are amazing, with a great selection of modern and fashionable kimonos to choose from. Walking around Higashi-chayagai, the old building district, is something that you must do in Kanazawa and exploring in a kimono will only make it even more special! The kimono is not for just ladies, however, and Kokoyu has male kimonos too. Gentlemen can select between a kimono or hakama, another Japanese traditional dress for men. Hakama is a bit easier to walk in compared to a kimono. If you are a couple, why not dress up together and enjoy your extraordinary walking date!
