Jiyuken is a long-established curry shop that opened in 1910 and was the first restaurant in Osaka to serve western-style food. It’s unique in that the rice and curry are served mixed together and topped with a raw egg. This was a result of there being no rice cookers to keep the rice warm during the eatery’s early years, so the chef began mixing the rice in so the dish would be served hot.
