東北の歴史が学べる。古代以前の物が充実。

旧石器時代から近現代までの東北が学べる所。常設展示室は、古代以前の展示品が充実している。特別室があり、ここでは特別展が開かれている。館内は清潔だし、博物館員の来館者への接し方はそつがない。問題点は見つからず。敷地内には、石巻市より移築された古民家「今野家住宅」もある。小学生達が、社会科見学で訪れここを見ていた。
