i love this place, not so crowded & near around is enjoyable esp for fish pool outside the temple, they are all fat. ha. the temple roof is pretty. l love it.

a small shrine for some local dignitaries I think. no english translation at the site but I guess to be allowed to be honoured here you must be someone special. only takes a couple of minutes to see.

熊本で最も古い歴史ある神社です。大鳥居から神社まで続く約1,200mの長い参道には、加藤清正の頃に植えられたと伝えられる杉並木の一部が残っています。
境内の裏手には、相撲ができるように土俵も作られていました。
