오사카부 도요나카시의 '핫토리 녹지' 내에 있는 일본 최초의 야외 박물관. 1956년에 개관. 북쪽 이와테현에서 남쪽 가고시마현 아마미오시마 섬까지 일본 각지를 대표하는 민가 등 12동을 이축 전시. 광대한 부지내에는 히다 시라카와의 갓쇼즈쿠리 산촌 전통가옥과 남부의 마가리야 전통가옥을 비롯해 중요문화재로 지정되어 있는 주택들도 많다. 건물내에는 각 지방의 생활용구들을 전시하고 있다.
