시라카와고 마을의 대표적인 새띠지붕의 갓쇼즈쿠리 가옥인 '와다케 주택'. 바깥채 14칸, 안채 7칸으로 시라카와 마을에 남아있는 최대 규모의 갓쇼즈쿠리 가옥이다. 정원과 산울타리, 전원과 수로의 보존 상태도 좋고 아름답다. 현재 주거로 활용되고 있지만 내부의 견학은 가능하며, 이로리 화로의 불은 일년내내 피워져 있어 이로리 화로 주변에서 편안하게 쉴 수도 있다. 1995년에 국가 지정 문화재로 지정되었다.

you can learn a little bit of history about Gassho architecture and the last head of the Wada family, who was the mayor of Ogimachi also for a few terms, while visiting this house.
