하기번의 거상 기쿠야 가문의 주택. 오우치 가문의 호위무사로서 야마구치에서 살고 있었지만, 오우치 가문이 멸망한 후에 상인이 되었다. 1604년에 무장 모리 데루모토가 하기번으로 오면서 그에게 현재 장소의 부지를 하사받아 집을 지었다. 현존하는 상인 가문으로서는 전국에서도 가장 오래된 측에 속하는 400년의 역사가 있다. 에도 시대 초기에 세워진 본채에는 넓은 객실이 있으며, 본채를 비롯한 다섯 채가 국가 중요 문화재로 지정되어 있다.
