  Kakko-ya is the place to go to experience a rare Genbi Gorge specialty known as soratobu dango. Order your dango and tea and it will be served to you in a basket which is carried across the gorge on a pulley system.   When Motsu-ji Temple was founded in the Heian period it was a similar size to the well-known Chuson-ji Temple made up of an impressive 40 buildings and 500 extra meditation quarters. Although smaller today, the temple's garden and archaelogical remains have been kept in pristine condition both of which have received recognition as special historical sites.
