Yonago Gaina Festival
This massive event is a true sign of summer in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, and is a long-time favorite. The city is embraced by high spirits as a number of events take place, including the Gaina Manto, a massive parade of Buddhist lanterns inspired by Akita's Kanto festival, as well as outdoor Gaina taiko performances, dances, music and comedy. On the last day, there is a massive fireworks show at Yonago port and Minatoyama Park, with about 6,000 shots filling the night sky with glorious lights.
