Kushiro Port Festival

Started in 1948, the 50th anniversary of the opening of Kushiro Port, the huge Kushiro Port Festival is the greatest event of the summer in the city of Kushiro. The festival includes showy, large-scale parades of fishing boat floats, fisherman's banners, folk dances, and music. Concerts, ferries, rowing competitions, and a variety of other events are also held. The entire city gets caught up in the festivities! Many stalls and stands are set up during the festival, and each year Kushiro bustles with visitors come to enjoy the party.
