Fukushima Fireworks Display (ふくしま花火大会)
This fireworks display is held at Shinobugaoka Ryokuchi Park, the spot where the Abukuma River and the Matsugawa River come together. It is a special kind of display known as good luck fireworks, launched with the intention of driving out misfortune, granting wishes, and celebrating all happy occasions. In the middle of Fukushima's hot summer, 10,000 fireworks, including shakudama (12 inch shells) bursts, starmines, and message fireworks illuminate the night sky with garlands of brilliantly colored light. On the day of the display, the nearby Shinobugaoka Athletic Field sells seats to spectators on a first-come, first-served basis.
