Osaka Castle Park (大阪城公園)
A spacious park built around Osaka Castle which is also renowned as one of the best places for cherry blossom viewing in spring in the Kansai region. Visitors can enjoy some 3,000 cherry trees on the park’s grounds, primarily Yoshino cherries but also including hill cherries, double-flowered cherries, Oshima cherries, and other varieties. The pink-blooming trees create a beautiful harmony with the castle’s stone wall, moat, and tower. The 300 or so cherry trees which blossom in the Nishinomaru Garden are particularly famous, and while in bloom they are lit up at night. The Nishinomaru Garden is open from 9:00 to 17:00; entry 200 yen for adults. Toilets, shops and paid parking available.

While Osaka prefecture is the country's second smallest prefecture, its capital, Osaka City, is the country's third-largest and arguably one of the most popular in the Kansai region thanks to its vibrant nightlife, the Osaka people's openness, and its much-loved cuisine, which has earned it the nickname "the nation's kitchen."
