Kikuchi Park

A park located on top of a small hill in Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture which offers facilities such as a spacious grass lawn, large athletic field, and scenic lookout. The park is a renowned spot for cherry blossom viewing, and in spring it bustles with visitors come to see the 3,000 Yoshino cherries, hill cherries, and other cherry trees blooming on the grounds. The best time to see the blossoms is usually from late March to mid-April, and during this time the park is lit up with paper lanterns, giving visitors the chance to enjoy the blossoms at night as well. The Kikuchi Cherry Blossom Festival is conducted in the area from early February to late March, and stage events as well as a food market are held. Toilets and parking available.
