Kyu-Furukawa Gardens
A Western-style mansion and gardens which were built as a residence for the Furukawa Zaibatsu in the Meiji period, today these facilities are open to the general public as a metropolitan garden. The park consists of the Western-style brick mansion standing on a small hill as well as Western-style and Japanese gardens on the surrounding hill and lowland. The park is also renowned for its cherry blossoms. During the peak blooming period from late March to mid-April, Yoshino cherries, weeping cherries, and hill cherries blossom around the park’s grounds, decorating the Taisho period scenery blending Western and Japanese influences with their lovely flowers. The garden is open from 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry 16:30). The admission fee is 150 yen for adults, 70 yen for persons 65 and older, free for elementary school students and under as well as middle school students living and attending school in Tokyo. Toilets and shops available. No parking available. The nearest stations are Kami-Nakazato Station and Nishigahara Station.
