Omiya Park
Opened in 1885 as Saitama’s first prefectural park, this park features a red pine forest, athletic facilities, a zoo, and a kids’ playground. Selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots, this popular spot features roughly 1,000 cherry trees, whether Yoshino cherries, double-flowered cherries or hill cherries, that bloom wondrously in spring. Peak season is late March to early April, when the trees are illuminated for nighttime viewing—great to see the tunnel of flowers against the night sky. Toilets, shops and free parking available (Hours are from 8:30 to 19:00. Closes at 17:30 from October to March). The nearest station is Omiya-koen Station.
