Maruoka Park
A park built on a site offering a sweeping view of the Kirishima Mountains in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture and one of the largest parks in the prefecture. The park has a variety of facilities, including go-carts, an athletic ground, a Japanese garden, community center, and cafeteria. It’s also famed for its cherry blossoms. Each year usually from late March to early April, some 2,000 Yoshino cherries and weeping cherries come into bloom on the park’s grounds, dying the entire hill a deep pink color. The park’s facilities are open from 9:00 to 16:30 and are closed on Tuesdays (if Tuesday is a holiday, park facilities close the following day).
