Jojakko-ji Temple

Event
Jojakko-ji Temple is a “mountain temple” located on the slopes of Mt. Ogura, a little way away from the center of Arashiyama; the Temple is around 15 minutes’ walk from JR Saga Arashiyama Station. Jojakko-ji Temple is famous not only for its impressive views over the city of Kyoto and for the beauty of its autumn foliage, but also as a wonderful place to view the cherry blossom in spring. Between early April and mid-April, visitors can admire the cherry trees that are in bloom throughout the Temple grounds. The beni-shidare-zakura and hill cherry trees near the Niomon Gate and the Tahoto (Two-storied) Pagoda are particularly impressive. Opening hours are from 9:00 to 17:00 (last admission is at 16:30); the entrance charge is 500 yen. Toilets are available.
