Negoro-ji Temple
A Buddhist temple with over 900 years of history and tradition, the Negoro-ji Temple is the head temple of Shingi Shingon Buddhism. Located in norther Wakayama Prefecture, this ancient temple is 60 minutes away from Osaka City and 30 minutes away from Kansai International Airport. Visitors can take in the medieval atmosphere which hangs everywhere on the temple's 3.5 million square grounds. The best time to enjoy fall foliage here in most years is from late November. The Japanese maples, cherry trees, dodan-tsutsuji, and other plants and trees growing on the grounds dyed vivid fall colors make for truly picturesque scenery. The temple's National Treasure-designated pagoda is also the only pagoda in Japan visitors may enter.
