Meiji no Mori Mino Quasi-National Park
A nature park occupying the 100 to 600 meter high mountain region of Mino in the north of Mino City, Osaka Prefecture. Numerous birds and insects live here as well as groups of Japanese macaques, a species designated a Natural Monument. Some of the areas many highlights include ravines where you can enjoy picturesque scenery strewn with boulders and curious rock formations; the 48 meter tall Mino Falls; the Ryuan-ji Temple (Mino-ji Temple), founded as a Shugendo dojo in the middle ages; and the Katsuo-ji Temple, the 23rd station on the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage. The park is also a famous destination for fall foliage, and each year when the maples are at their peak color from mid-November to early December, a great many sightseers come here.
