Lake Notoro
Lake Notoro is a saline lake located in Abashiri City, Hokkaido, and connected to the Sea of ??Okhotsk. It is known as Hokkaido's foremost habitat for the plant glasswort. From around mid-September the grass turns its autumn colors, and the whole wetland area of ??the portside attracts people who visit for the site of the crimson grasses spreading like a great carpet. At its peak they hold the Lake Notoro Glasswort Festival, featuring performances by local musicians, traditional yosakoi dancing, and more.
