Arashiyama
A nationally designated Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty, Arashiyama has been a sightseeing destination famous for its picturesque scenery since ancient times. It is also a renowned location for enjoying cherry blossoms in spring and fall foliage in autumn. The sight of the Togetsukyo Bridge together with the fall colors reflected on the surface of the Katsura River is truly elegant; seeing it for yourself, you'll understand why so many poets have sung of its beauty across the ages. After the Maple Festival, held on the second Sunday in November, the area is lit up at night from mid-November to early December.
