Lake Chuzenji

Event
Formed some 20 thousand years ago when lava from erupting Mt. Nantai blocked a ravine, Lake Chuzenji serves as the entranceway to the Okunikko area. The lake area is known for its picturesque azaleas in early summer and fall foliage in autumn. The scenery from the lake while on a pleasure cruise is also spectacular, and in the fall visitors can take an autumn foliage cruise.
