Tenryu-ji Temple
A Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple in the Saga Arashiyama area. The temple's excursion garden built around a central pond, which looks the same as it did some 700 years ago when it was created by Muso Kokushi (Soseki), is spectacularly beautiful and particularly stunning in the autumn. Many Japanese maples grow on the temple's grounds and a visit here is an essential part of any sightseeing trip to Kyoto in fall.
