Mezame Onsen
A hot spring bathing facility located inside Nanki Katsuura Kyukamura, a resort where visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean along with tuna and other tasty Nachi delights. The waters of the sodium chloride spring are said to treat such ailments as burns, muscle soreness, nerve pain, fatigue, skin diseases, women's diseases, and sensitivity to cold. The facility's highly popular baths include a rock bath with a sweeping view of the Kumano Sea; a porcelain bath constantly replenished with hot spring water kakenagashi style; and a silken skin bath which gently massages the whole body using minute bubbles. There are lodging and money-saving plans available and the bathing facilities are also open to non-guests. From late April to late September, visitors can reserve a whale watching tour and see pods of sperm whales and dolphins in the Kumano Sea. Visitors can also take a cruise and tour the Ki-no-Matsushima Islands in the outlying waters of Katsuura Bay.
