Jigokudani Onsen
Jigokudani Onsen Korakukan is an isolated hot spring inn where people can bathe in hot spring waters together with local wild monkeys. The inn cannot be reached by car and must be walked to. The famous Jigokudani Yaen-Koen was opened in 1964 after the bathing monkeys here became nationally famous, but the history of the inn is far older. Located deep in the mountains, guests can enjoy the area's highly seasonal scenery, and, at night on clear days, bathe under a star-filled sky. An ancient fountain spring on the grounds continues to jet its waters into the air, occasionally raining down on the inn's outdoor bath depending on the direction of the wind and creating a rainbow for visitors to enjoy throughout the day. Non-guests can also use the inn's outdoor bath and visit the Shinfuseki-kitani dojo gallery (Osaru no Kuni go parlor).
