A rare carbonic acid-containing alkaline spring was discovered while boring 150 meter into the ground in the Hato no Tani valley, leading to the building of the Shionoha Onsen Yumoto Yamabatoyu hot spring inn. The hot spring's waters are said to treat nerve pain, muscle soreness, joint pain, frozen shoulders, motor paralysis, chronic digestive diseases, chronic women's diseases, hysteria, sensitivity to cold, bruises, sprains, and nine other ailments. The inn's outdoor bath offers a sweeping view of a dam lake enwrapped in the Yoshino cedar forest, and as time passes its waters turn from colorless to a golden yellow; this coupling of gorgeous scenery and colored waters engenders a sense of paradise in bathers. The inn's cuisine, made with locally caught river fish, edible wild plants, and vegetables is also renowned, and dishes such as the Koyo Nabe hotpot, boar stew, and duck hotpot boast many fans.

源泉かけ流し&釜めし

食事処で頂ける釜めしが最高に美味しかったです。30分ぐらいかかるから先にお風呂に入ってて、その間に釜めし作っとくよ〜と言われたのですが、あまりにもお腹が空いたので先に頂きました。30分もかからずに出てきたと思います。ただ、スタッフの若い子が客から見える所でスマホをいじってたのが気になりました。なので評価-1です。しかし、温泉は最高でした！温度はそんなに熱くなく39℃ぐらいでしょうか。露天...

TV大阪の関西人が選ぶ関西の温泉でいつもランクインしているので知っていました。確かに秘境の所にはあるけど、結構認知されているから知る人ぞ知る感は無く、休みの日は混んでて特に日帰りだと逆に「秘湯でのゆっくり感」は味わえないです。泉質も似た所なら和歌山の花山温泉がまだ濃いかもです。同行者も昔はもっと、タオルがお湯がついたら茶色くなっていたけど、今日はならなっかたな-と言っていたので・・・。

山奥だけど車のドライブはそれほど難易度は高くないです。ダムを超えた最後の数キロだけ道が狭いので対向車に注意が必要です。車の路駐が必須な感じです。お湯は内湯もそれほど熱くなく、露天風呂は内湯から流れ出したお湯なのでぬるかったです。
