Towadako Nishi Kohan Onsen
A hot spring welling forth on the grounds of a hotel on the west bank of Lake Towada, one of the most picturesque locations in Towada-Hachimantai National Park. This hot spring is used to fill an open and airy outdoor bath from which bathers can enjoy the sight of fresh verdure in spring and summer and fall foliage in autumn, as well as star-filled skies at night. The bath's waters, said to treat chronic digestive diseases, sensitivity to cold, fatigue, and joint stiffness, come completely from the calcium sodium sulfate spring without the use of any added waters. The hotel is located near Lake Towada's Kankodai observatory and Oirase Stream, and Cape Tappi and Senjojiki are also just two to three hours away by car. The hotel also allows non-guests to use the bath, making it possible to stop by here for a day trip hot spring bath experience.
