Yunohana Onsen
A history-leaden hot spring district situated amongst the quiet mountains seven kilometers west of the heart of Kyoto City. Records state that the waters here were used to soothe the sword wounds of many a samurai during the Warring States period. The area's colorless simple, mildly radioactive springs (natural radium springs) are said to aid recovery from fatigue and promote health in addition to alleviating chronic digestive diseases, women's diseases, gout, sensitivity to cold, gallstones, and other ailments. The Anaoji Temple, Jinzoji Temple, and many other temples and historic sites are located in the area, and this hot spring village bustles with visitors throughout the year, serving as a base for exploring this ancient Japanese capital.
