Utoro Onsen

Hot Spring / Hot Spring Bath
A scenic hot spring district commanding views of Mt. Rausu and the Sea of Okhotsk located on the Shiretoko Peninsula, a designated World Heritage Site. Relatively new, the area was established as a hot spring district in 1972. The area boasts over 10 source springs and generates an astounding 1,000 liters of hot water every minute. Dark reddish-brown hydrogen carbonate springs and chloride springs are found in the district, and their waters are said to be highly moisturizing, resulting in smooth, soft skin post-bath. In winter, hot spring bathers can enjoy views of white snowscapes and ice floes, and during this time in particular the area bustles with many tourists.
