Taishojin Park
A park in Rakuichi, Iizuka City. The park covers Mt. Taishojinyama which is said to be where Minamoto no Michinaka assembled his forces when he was given the imperial order to suppress the rebellion of Fujiwara no Sumitomo in 941. The Taishojin Star Dome observatory is located on the peak of the mountain. The park is also a well-known location for sakura cherry blossom viewing being home to nearly 2500 Yoshino Cherry trees. While the trees are in bloom the park hosts the Taishojin Cherry Blossom Festival.
