Mausoleums of Emperor Shomu and Empress Komyo

"These imperial tombs are located in Horen-cho, Nara City. Standing in a row, the tombs belong to Emperor Shomu, the 45th emperor of Japan and the builder of the Todaiji temple and the Kokubunji provincial temples; and his wife, Empress Komyo. The tombs are also known as the ""Sahoyama no Minami no Misasagi"" (""South Mausoleum of Sahoyama"") and the ""Sahoyama no Higashi no Misasagi"" (""East Mausoleum of Sahoyama""). Situated northwest of the Todaiji temple, the tombs also adjoin the site of Tamonyama Castle."
