Taimadera Temple Sainain

This Buddhist temple was built by Taima no Kunimi to serve as a guardian temple in the unlucky southwest direction of the Manpozoin founded by the prince Taima no Miko when Hyegwan of Baekje came to provide instruction in 683 and re-christened it the Taimadera. The 21st of the Kansai Flower Temples, the temple is also famous for its rhododendrons and tree peonies. In autumn, three maple trees over three hundred years old each turn gold, orange, and crimson. In addition, the temple is number eight of the 18 Ancient Pagoda Temples and is visited by large numbers of worshipers.

美しいお庭があります

裏鬼門の守り寺院として創建されたのが西南院の始まりです。江戸時代初期という庭園は美しく、當麻寺分院の中で一番の輝きを放ちます。當麻寺の分院巡りは、歴史散策だと実感します。
水琴窟の音色に癒されます

當麻寺の塔頭の一つです。「中之坊」や「奥院」で牡丹をたくさん見てきて、最後にこちらの「西南院」に立ち寄りましたが、こちらの牡丹が一番見事に咲いていました。また、芝桜やシャクナゲもとてもきれいでした。こちらの庭園は奥院ほど広くありませんが、みはらし台まで階段を登ると、お堂の屋根や日本的な庭園が見渡せます。「水琴窟」が二つあり、水滴の落ちる音が神秘的に響き、とても癒されました。私の滞在時間は40...
