Hamamatsu Hime Kaido and Dotaku Historical Folk Museum

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
A museum located on the southern side of Hosoe Park. On display are materials related to the commerce of the historical Himekaido highway as well as the local history, and a variety of lifestyle tools. The Himekaido highway was a bustling side road of the Tokaido highway and as it passed through Honzaka Pass on the northern side of Lake Hamana it was also known as the Honzaka Road. Within the museum you can relive the past with their painting and 3D maps of the Himakaido highway. The Miyakoda River Basin is one of the leading archeological sites in Japan where Dotaku (bronze bells) from the Yayoi period have been discovered. On the second floor of the museum they have seven such bells on display as well as a reproduction of one of the sites where a bell was excavated.
