"This is the old residence of Nobutsuna Sasaki, a Japanese literature scholar from Mie Prefecture. In this atmospheric manor, there are explanation boards for songs Nobutsuna read, and a garden overgrown with grass and trees mentioned in the Man'yoshu. Active as a Japanese literature scholar and poet, Nobutsuna was a person whose achieved major accomplishments as a researcher of the ""Man'yoshu"". In order to recover from illness and to write, he set up his residence in warm Atami in 1944, living there until his passing in 1963. You are not allowed to enter the building, but the atmosphere of the garden greenery and the solemn manor allow one to remember the past."

佐佐木信綱さん、と言ってもパッとわかる人は残念ながら100人中、10人くらいですかね。国文学者、歌人です。中学のとき、国語の授業で「ゆく秋の大和の国の薬師寺の塔の上なるひとひらの雲」思い出して頂けましたか。そうなんです。すごい有名な人のおうちだったのです。立派ですよ。おうちも庭園も落ち着いてて。ここまで来る人はほんとに旅の通ですね。知識もあって教養もあって、素敵な男女ばかり、オッと、失礼しました...

佐々木信綱の旧宅です。万葉集で有名な方で、最初の文化勲章受章者であるそうです。volunteerの方が非常に丁寧でよく説明していただきました。

「万葉集」の研究者である佐佐木信綱さんの旧宅だそうです。邸内には入りませんでしたが、樹木がとても綺麗に手入れされている見事な日本邸宅でした。場所は、来宮神社から函南方面にちょっと登ったところです。
