Morimachi History and Folk Museum

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
A museum located a 15-minute walk from Enshu-Mori Station or a 20-minute drive from the Fukuroi Interchange, just north of the Morimachi General Gymnasium Mori Arena. The building is a repurposing of the Shuchi County Office, which was built in 1885, moved to the current site and remodeled. The museum contains stone mattocks and axes that have been excavated by archeologists, and earthenware from the Yayoi period, and other historic artifacts up to everyday items from the twentieth century Showa period. Looking at these artifacts, visitors can understand the changes in everyday life that have occurred in the region through the years. The museum also contains exhibits related to famous people from the region, such as industrialist Tozaburo Suzuki. Guides are available to visitors who make a reservation ahead of time.
