Izu-Kogen Takenoko Mura
A 70-minute drive from the Numazu Interchange on the Tomei Expressway. They offer bamboo shoot gathering for a limited period from early April to early May. The vast bamboo grove covers nearly 20,000-tsubo (nearly 66,000 square meters) and features a rich black soil, perfect for the growth of bamboo shoots characterized by their unique texture and tenderness. You can find your own bamboo shoots, symbolizing the taste of spring, dig them up with your own hands, and then take them home with you. Boots and hoes are available to borrow free of charge, and experienced guides will carefully teach you how to find and harvest the bamboo shoots making this more that suited for beginners. The bamboo grove is pet friendly.
