A seven-minute walk from JR Oiso Station. 'Even a person free of passion would be moved to sadness; Autumn evening in a marsh where the sandpipers take flight.' In the early Edo period Sousetsu of Odawara erected a stone monument inscribed with this poem by the poet Saigyo. This is one of Japan's top three haiku poetry dojos alongside Kyoto's Rakushisha and Shiga's Mumyoan. There are over 80 stone monuments on the site including poems from Basho, Saigyo, and generations of owners of the dojo as well as a stone monument declaring the Birthplace of Shonan. Within the calm atmosphere of the dojo a variety of events and classes are held including Ikebana flower arranging and copying sutras.

湘南の名の発祥の地

名前だけは聞いていたので立ち寄りました。日本三大俳諧道場の一つらしいです。私は俳句，和歌には全く無知なのでそれほど興味を持てませんでした。この日は庵室でチェロ演奏会が行われていました。
ぜひお立ち寄りすることをおすすめします。

鴫立庵の入口横に「湘南発祥地」碑があります。それを横目で見ながら入るといいかもね。茅葺きの古民家を保存しながら利用されています。各種イベントも行われており、この日は浴衣の着付け教室が行われていました。
